St. Thomas school Fashion Show Fundraiser
On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, St. Thomas the Apostle School hosted a Fashion Show raising over $1400 for the Casa Building program. The school expanded its motto of “creating a blessed community, one child at a time” in the heart of Los Angeles to help build one house at a time across the border in Tijuana.
The show opened with Ms. Gamboa, the first grade teacher, giving a short summary of the trip that herself and four other members of the St. Thomas Faculty took in February 2013. The event, which was sponsored by the Student Council with the Fashion Club, had students design outfits made of household items such as table cloths and tape and walk down the runway to the applause of the student body and parents in attendance. After the first round of judging, the top four student designers were put on the spot to design new outfits for four of the faculty, including the principal Mr.O and the pastor of the parish Fr. Arturo. After a close race, the crowds gave the design award to the team for Fr. Arturo, who displayed his own rico suave moves. All of the designers had fun and then the students were treated to a preview of St. Thomas’ spring musical. It was reportedly one of the more spirited fundraiser in recent years at St. Thomas.
We thank the school and community of St. Thomas and their principal, Mr. O, for their generosity in helping our brothers and sisters in Tijuana.
