ON THE PERIPHERY OF JOY
Only in being willing to risk everything for the truth, will my heart “throb and overflow” with the “riches of the sea.”
ON THE PERIPHERY OF JOY
Only in being willing to risk everything for the truth, will my heart “throb and overflow” with the “riches of the sea.”
THE CLOAK OF INVISIBILITY
My walk with God and my life in community of faith-filled people free my heart and awaken it.
IF WE TRULY SEEK
The life of seeking is a lifetime’s vocation. It is meant as a time to grow, to deepen, to be purified, to overflow to others and for others.
HOPE THAT PURIFIES
I often miss the horizon for all the water in the way. So my struggle today is to remain in the hope that purifies.
STAY WITH UNEXPECTED GRACE
My sickness enabled a surprising discovery that a sick body can free a healthier spirit.
WHAT ARE WE KEEPING IN OUR HEARTS?
My heart is challenged to feel both the light and darkness of life versus closing and numbing itself when life becomes overwhelming.
CHRISTMAS AFTERGLOW
Simeon inspires me to love and keep faith, even when I feel as if I have nothing left.
THE FULLNESS OF TIME
Each moment lived fully in the present is its own “fullness of time” – kairos time.
GRACE IN LIGHT AND DARKNESS
As my generous words or deeds may have encouraged someone, my words or deeds have also cut others down.
JOY
Does my life exude the joy that John found in knowing the salvation brought by the Messiah?
DARE TO DIVE IN
“A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench… I have grasped you by the hand.” - Is. 42:3,6
"…He was not baptized because he needed to be purified, but so that he might bring sanctity to the waters themselves." ---St. Gregory Nazianus
In life and in death, Jesus went first to show us that greater life was possible and to encourage us to take the risk. What might it feel like to dive in and take the risk to be with Him?
WILLINGNESS TO MOVE?
"Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to worship him.” - Mt 2:2
King Herod and the Magi represent two opposite attitudes in all of us towards light in today’s Gospel. The Magi were open to something new.
OPEN OUR EYES AND HEARTS
"There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding." – Jn 2:1
If we can shift our focus away from trying to measure up, we may just find God working in our lives, constantly loving us from a place of abundance, always providing more than enough for us.
SIMPLE LOVE
"You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." – Mk 1:11
A simple act of love can make someone's day.
ST. JOHN NEUMANN SHARES LOVE THOUGH FACETIME
"This is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another…” – 1 Jn. 3:11
How are we personally invited to listen to Jesus more? To follow Him more? To lay down our lives more? To love each other more? How may the world look differently doing so?
LOVE WALKS CLOSELY
"It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, 'We have found the Messiah,' which is translated Christ. Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas,' which is translated Peter.” – Jn. 1:39-42
The journey of figuring out and living out one's calling and purpose is a journey of a lifetime.
