LIVING WITHOUT PREJUDICES IS DIFFICULT
One of the hardest spiritual tasks is to live without prejudices. Sometimes we aren’t even aware how deeply rooted our prejudices are.
A BROKEN HEART IS AN OPEN HEART
I marvel at the idea that it is when our heart is broken open that we have the difficult and beautiful opportunity to let God fill it and work through it.
RELENTLESS LOVE
I am being invited to face the struggles/conflicts and that all of these things make up who I am but don’t define me, just as God isn’t only defined as the God of “wrath and punishment.”
I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU
Since I am a child of God, each day is a new opportunity for me to be part of the creation and “re-creation” of this beautiful, hurting world.
BELIEVING IS SEEING
I see small wonders in sunsets, in kind words, in my health. I recognize the mystery in His mercy, His forgiveness, His peace.
THE LOST ARE FOUND
I am realizing more and more each day that home is so more than just an address.
TO SEE AS JESUS SEES
Together, with Jesus, I can look, cry, smile, and even laugh at my ways because he sees me and loves me in it all.
A HUMBLE GIFT
As Jesus commands us to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, my daunting, out-of-reach expectations are exchanged for the simple beckoning from the Divine.
HARDEN NOT YOUR HEARTS
Lent is an opportunity to break those chains that cause us to harden our hearts, let God into our hearts, and cultivate a deeper relationship with Him.
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW
What injustices burn in my heart today? What can I do to help end injustice to bring about a more compassionate society?
BROKENNESS ASIDE
Before I could love others and serve others, I had to forgive myself for failing to love my “flaws.”
JUST AS I AM TODAY
Mary’s “yes” is a model for us to return our focus to the hope that God offers and encourages us to be less consumed by our own concerns.
INCH CLOSER, FATHER
What pure love that we have a heavenly Father who enters into the mess of things and inches closer to his beloved children!
THE REAL CAPTAIN MARVEL
Being marveled is not dependent on the thing itself but the sensitivity to see the inherent beauty in it.
TRUSTING IN GOD
Those who trust in God live a blessed life, like a tree planted by the water that never has to worry about changes in the weather.
VULNERABILITY, RISK, AND THE WORD
It’s not always easy to vulnerably open ourselves up and risk scrutiny. However, this Lent, let us remember the One who risked everything and vulnerably opened Himself up to us.
GOD’S UNNATURAL FAMILY
Joseph would not be the natural father of a child by Mary; instead, he would be the adoptive father to multitudes of children raised up by the reconciling work of Jesus.
WHEN LOVE IS GREATER
I’m convinced that the love that I ultimately express can only come through from God.
REMEMBERING ABRAHAM IN TIMES OF DESOLATION
Lord of all consolation, help us to always seek you. Give us strength and courage in times of desolation.
