A MOMENT OF PEACE
“The tender mercy of our God … will visit us … to guide our feet into the way of peace." – Lk 1: 78-79
For many of us, Christmas Eve is often filled with a flurry of activities: last-minute shopping, cooking, traveling, gift-wrapping, etc. We can feel the pressure to make things happen, to be happy and cheerful, even with people we struggle to accept or those who trigger allergic reactions within us. Some of us can suffer from seasonal sorrow, like remembering the loss of loved ones.
In the midst of these real stresses, God promises to lead us to greater shalom – peace or well-being. This gift of God doesn’t mean we have to know the way, have it all together, or to be fully open. As we stumble and fumble along our paths these days, we can pause to receive the peace that God is already with us, struggling with us, guiding us. Gift yourself with a moment of quiet, beneath the hustle and bustle of this day. Let at the lights on the Christmas tree or the video below, through quiet presence of the God, gift you a moment of peace.
Lord, help me trust that you are already with me, whispering: “Peace. I am here!”
